Jacoba Johanna was born in 1878 in the Cape Colony; she was the daughter of Daniel Wynand van Coller and Jacoba Johanna van Fouche.
She was 23 years old when she married 45-year-old widower Carl Wilhelm Jähnig in Mossel Bay, Cape Colony, on 1 May 1900.[1]

Two children were born of this marriage:
Jacoba was 26 years old when she contracted pneumonia and passed away at Witpan, Warrenton, on 19 June 1904.[2][3]
